Abstract

Alpha-2 glycoprotein rich in leucine is frequently used to assess inflammation. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the expression of Lucien-Rich Alpha-2 Glycoprotein in the gingival tissues of patients suffering from chronic periodontitis. Hence, 70 patients were divided into 2 groups each of thirty-five each. Participants in the case group had chronic periodontitis, while those in the control group had clinically healthy periodontal tissue. Gingival Index (GI), Plaque Index (PI), Probing Pocket Depth (PPD), Gingival Bleeding Index (GBI) and Clinical Attachment Level (CAL) were assessed for each group. Alpha-2 glycoprotein rich in leucine was assessed in both groups. Results show a strong correlation between chronic periodontitis and leucine-rich alpha-2 glycoprotein (LRG).
