Abstract |
Osteoporotic fractures are associated with poor functional recovery in older adults. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate serum 25-OH-D, calcium, phosphorus, and PTH in 120 fragility fracture patients. Hence, Vitamin D deficiency was observed in 65% of patients and showed significant positive correlation with 6-month functional recovery scores. Elevated PTH levels were negatively associated with recovery outcomes, while calcium and phosphorus were not significant predictors. Thus, we report serum vitamin D as an independent predictor of long-term functional recovery after osteoporotic fractures.
