Abstract

Anxiety during pregnancy is a significant maternal mental health problem among working women due to occupational stress and pregnancy-related physiological changes. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the effectiveness of guided imagery in reducing anxiety among pregnant working women in Vadodara, Gujarat. Hence, a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design was used among 50 participants and anxiety was measured using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7). The mean anxiety score decreased significantly from 24.36 to 16.08 after the intervention (p < 0.001). Thus, we show that guided imagery may serve as a simple and effective non-pharmacological intervention to reduce anxiety during pregnancy.
