Abstract

Metabolic syndrome is characterized by insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia and hypertension and many patients do not achieve adequate glycemic control despite standard therapy. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf powder (MOLP) plus standard of care (SOC) versus SOC alone in 110 adults with metabolic syndrome over 12 weeks. The intervention group will receive MOLP 12 g/day along with metformin and glimepiride, while the control group will receive SOC alone. Thus, data shows the HbA1c as well as other glycemic parameters, insulin resistance, anthropometry, blood pressure, lipid profile, inflammatory markers, organ function and safety of MOLP in metabolic syndrome cases.
