Abstract |
Wound closure is a key determinant of healing, infection risk, operative time and cosmetic outcomes in plastic surgery. Although conventional sutures remain the standard because of their strength and reliability, cyanoacrylate-based tissue adhesives have emerged as a promising alternative with the potential to reduce operative time and improve post-operative comfort. Hence, 60 patients undergoing cosmetic surgical procedures were randomly allocated to either conventional suture closure (n = 30) or tissue adhesive closure (n = 30). The groups were evaluated for wound closure time, postoperative pain, wound infection, dehiscence and cosmetic outcome. Thus, data shows the clinical performance of tissue adhesives and conventional sutures, highlighting the potential of tissue adhesives as an effective alternative for selected plastic surgical procedures.
