Abstract |
Periodontal disease may compromise orthodontic treatment outcomes, yet its effect on bonding time and bracket survival remains unclear. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the periodontal health, bonding time and bracket survival among orthodontic patients with healthy periodontium and mild to moderate periodontal disease. Ninety patients were divided into two groups and assessed over 12 months for clinical periodontal parameters, bonding duration and bracket survival rate. Patients with periodontal disease showed higher plaque and gingival index scores, while bracket survival did not differ significantly between groups. Thus, data shows the periodontal disease does not adversely affect bracket survival under controlled care, supporting safe orthodontic treatment in such patients. |
