Abstract

Dentin hypersensitivity (DHS) is one of the major problems encountered in dental health in which laser treatment is seen to be effective in treating DHS. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the efficacy of a 980 nm diode laser in treating DHS in patients who are hypersensitive to the canine and premolar teeth. The patients were treated with a 10-second air blast from 1 cm away and verbal pain rating (VAS). The patients were treated with two 60-second sessions of non-contact mode at 0.5 W. In the DHS treatment, the patients showed a steady and clear reduction in pain scores at all follow-up visits. Thus, data shows the diode laser significantly reduced the bacteria during root canal treatment.
