Abstract |
Peri-implant soft tissue complications remain a major challenge affecting long-term implant success. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the peri-implant soft tissue health around zirconia and titanium implants in 60 adults over 12 months. Zirconia implants demonstrated significantly lower plaque accumulation and bleeding on probing than titanium implants (p < 0.05). Gingival inflammation was reduced around zirconia implants, while probing depth and mucosal recession were comparable between groups. Thus, data shows the zirconia implants may promote superior peri-implant soft tissue health through reduced bacterial adhesion and inflammatory response. |
