Abstract

Microleakage remains a significant challenge affecting the long-term retention and cariostatic effectiveness of pit and fissure sealants. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the microleakage of fluoride-releasing sealants on premolars. Forty extracted non-carious premolars were allocated into an experimental group (giomer-based) and a control group (conventional resin-based). After thermocycling and dye penetration analysis, the experimental material demonstrated lower microleakage compared to the conventional material. Thus, data shows the giomer-based fluoride-releasing sealants exhibited superior marginal sealing ability compared to conventional resin-based sealants.
