Abstract |
Achieving predictable wound healing after periodontal flap surgery remains a clinical challenge despite advances in regenerative therapy. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the effectiveness of concentrated growth factor (CGF) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) membranes in enhancing post-operative wound healing in 14 patients with Stage III Grade B periodontitis. Early wound healing and post-operative pain were assessed on the seventh post-operative day using the Early Wound Healing Index (EWHI) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The CGF group demonstrated significantly better early wound healing than the PRF group (EWHI: 4.14 vs. 3.29; p=0.045), while post-operative pain was comparable between the groups (VAS: 3.86 vs. 4.00; p=0.829). Thus, data shows the CGF membrane may provide superior early periodontal wound healing following flap surgery, although larger randomized clinical trials are required to confirm its clinical benefits. |
