Abstract |
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasingly prevalent and closely associated with metabolic abnormalities, particularly dyslipidemia. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the association between dyslipidemia, fatty liver severity (FIB4 score) and liver fibrosis in 112 NAFLD patients attending a tertiary care centre in North India. A significant positive correlation was observed between LDL cholesterol and FIB-4 score; LDL cholesterol and triglycerides also showed a moderate positive correlation with fatty liver grade; LDL/HDL ratio demonstrated a significant association with fatty liver grade and patients with dyslipidemia exhibited higher FIB-4 scores. Thus, data shows that routine lipid assessment and management of dyslipidemia may help identify and treat NAFLD patients at higher risk for advanced liver disease and cardiovascular risks. |
