Abstract

Healthcare professionals are at high risk of physical strain, stress and burnout; yet structured workplace wellness programs remain limited. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the effectiveness of the Staff Wellness Enhancement Program (SWEP) in improving knowledge, practical skills and confidence for self-management of physical fitness, dietary practices and mental well-being. Hence, ten healthcare professionals completed a 16-hour structured training program with two weeks of mentoring and pre- and post-intervention assessments. Knowledge, skills and confidence improved by 37.6%, 40.9% and 35.0%, respectively, while all participants achieved the predefined good competency level. Thus, data shows that SWEP promise for strengthening workforce resilience and promoting a preventive health culture, although larger controlled studies with longer follow-up are needed to confirm its long-term effectiveness.
