Abstract
The distinction between open and laparoscopic appendicectomy (OA and LA) remains unsettled regarding clinical outcomes, potency and patient well-being. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the aforementioned techniques, the time required for surgery, post-operative complications and the extent of recovery. An observational survey was conducted with 84 respondents who were confirmed cases of acute appendicitis. The respondents encountered OA technique endures lengthy operations, heightened pain after surgery, a greater rate of infection at the wound site, a longer inpatient duration and diminished resumption to usual work in juxtaposition to the LA group (p<0.05). Thus, data shows that LA offers benefits over OA, including reduced post-operative pain, lower complication rates and shorter inpatient stay, but requires a longer surgical duration.
