Abstract |
The influence of oral hygiene instructions on peri-implant health and osseointegration remains insufficiently established. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the conventional oral hygiene instructions with an enhanced maintenance protocol in 50 implant patients. The enhanced protocol significantly reduced plaque index and probing depth while improving preservation of peri-implant bone. Patients receiving conventional instructions showed greater bone loss and poorer peri-implant clinical parameters over 12 months. Thus, data shows the enhanced oral hygiene education with interdental care supports improved implant maintenance and long-term peri-implant tissue stability. |
