Abstract

Mega Sanjeevi Chooranam (MSC), a Siddha formulation indicated for Madhumegam (Diabetes mellitus), lacks validated safety data. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate its preclinical safety in Wistar rats using acute and 28-day repeated oral toxicity models in accordance with OECD guidelines 423 and 407. MSC caused no mortality or treatment-related toxic effects up to 2000 mg/kg (acute) and 1800 mg/kg/day (subacute), with no significant alterations in clinical, hematological, biochemical, or histopathological parameters, confirming a favorable safety profile for further clinical evaluation.
