Abstract

Maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation demands high precision for esthetic and functional success, yet conventional methods often lack accuracy and patient comfort. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the traditional techniques with advanced 3D facial scanning in 48 patients requiring facial prostheses. 3D scanning showed greater dimensional accuracy (0.31 ± 0.12 mm versus 1.24 ± 0.45 mm, p<0.001), reduced procedure time and improved patient comfort. Prostheses created using 3D data achieved superior fit and satisfaction scores. Thus, 3D facial scanning enhances accuracy, efficiency and comfort, offering a superior alternative for maxillofacial prosthetic planning and fabrication.
