Abstract |
Root canal instrumentation may induce dentinal microcracks, yet comparative evidence across rotary and reciprocating file systems remains limited. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the 80 extracted premolars instrumented with ProTaper Gold, TruNatomy, WaveOne Gold, or Reciproc Blue, with FESEM assessment at 3 mm, 6 mm and 9 mm levels. All systems produced microcracks, but ProTaper Gold showed the highest incidence, followed by TruNatomy, while WaveOne Gold and Reciproc Blue showed fewer defects. Reciproc Blue showed the lowest microcrack occurrence across all root levels. Thus, data shows that reciprocating systems, especially Reciproc Blue, may better preserve dentinal integrity during root canal preparation. |
