Abstract |
Dental implants are a dependable treatment for tooth replacement, but peri-implant infections can compromise long-term treatment success. This comparative study evaluated 60 patients, equally divided into peri-implant health, peri-implant mucositis, and peri implantitis groups, by assessing clinical peri-implant parameters, salivary pH, malondialdehyde, and total antioxidant capacity. Patients with peri-implantitis showed higher plaque index, bleeding on probing, probing depth, marginal bone loss, and malondialdehyde levels, with lower salivary pH and total antioxidant capacity. These findings indicate an association between peri implant disease and altered salivary pH and oxidative stress status. Thus, data shows that salivary pH and oxidative stress markers as potential adjunctive tools for early assessment of peri-implant disease. |
