Abstract |
Reliable gestational-age estimation becomes difficult when menstrual dating or early ultrasound is unavailable. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the fetal kidney length and volume as sonographic dating markers after 18 weeks in 240 singleton pregnancies. Bilateral renal measurements and routine fetal biometry were analyzed using correlation and regression methods. Gestational age correlated strongly with mean kidney length (r = 0.9908) and kidney volume (r = 0.9656; both p < 0.001). Thus, mean fetal kidney length showed the highest predictive accuracy and may complement routine biometry in late or uncertain dating. |
