Abstract |
Conventional endodontic irrigants often have high surface tension, limiting penetration into complex root canal anatomy. Therefore, it is of interest to compare the surface tension and dentin wettability of three Bromelain–Chlorhexidine–EDTA (BCE) formulations with BioPure MTAD under standardized conditions. BCE 5g showed the lowest surface tension (13.72 ± 0.243 mN/m) versus MTAD (30.66 ± 0.095 mN/m), with significant intergroup differences (p < 0.001). The BCE formulations demonstrated superior interfacial properties, while viscosity increased with increasing bromelain concentration. Thus, data shows that a bromelain-based ternary irrigant achieves sub-15 mN/m surface tension, supporting improved root canal penetration. |
