Abstract |
Millets have attracted renewed attention as nutrient-dense cereals with considerable potential to address non-communicable disease challenges. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the impact of a 12-week millet-based nutrition intervention on adults living in rural and tribal communities of Andhra Pradesh. A community-based cohort study was conducted among 345 adults aged 30 years and above from rural (n=180) and tribal (n=165) areas across three regions of Andhra Pradesh. Participants attended weekly "Mother's Kitchen" sessions over a period of 12 weeks and dietary intake was assessed. At baseline, only 26.4% of participants reported millet consumption during the dietary recall period and significant improvements were observed in nutrient intake following the intervention. |
